I decided to take my cat to the vet mainly because he had thrown up a few times yesterday, but also to get his shots. They checked him for a temperature and he was normal so they proceeded with the shots. He has no abdominal pain and no fever so they thought the vomitting may be from a hairball. My concern is that he is acting kind of grogy now (but the vomitting has passed). Do cats normally act this way after they have their annual shots?

Hello. Welcome to the site. Yes, it's normal for cats to not be feeling too great after their shots. They usually feel better in 24-48 hours. In rare cases they may have a bad reaction to shots. Just keep an eye on your kitty and let us know how he's doing.

Thank you so much for replying back. Actually, kitty woke up today throwing up again. He is currently in surgery. Turns out, when we took him back today, they did x-rays and he has something stuck in his intestine. The vet seems to think he will be okay, but lets keep our fingers crossed. Once again, thank you for your response and say a prayer for my kitty named TOM.

Okay....here's my update on Tom. He had swallowed a piece of Christmas ribbon (the kind you buy on the roll that is skinny). He chewed on the ribbons on our presents all Christmas so my husband had a hunch. They successfully removed the ribbon with only one tiny incision to his intestion which is good. However, he is resting right now in a animal hospital with a little bit of a fever. They will not release him until his fever subsides. Needless to say, no more ribbons at Christmas! Thank you for your concern!
