I think my girl is really small for her age. My mom thinks its because she had worms (bad worms) when she was smaller and it stunted her growth. Is that possible?? She's about 8/9 lbs tops!!!

Some cats are just smaller than others. As long as they are in good health, I wouldn't be worried about it. One of my parents' cats is a full grown male and he only weighs 6 lbs! He's not skinny or anything. He's just a little guy, who thinks he's as mighty as any cat (hence the name given to him: James Bond).

As for your kitty, an 8-9 lbs. female cat is a pretty normal weight. My vet told me that most cats are actually over weight. Handsome weighs 12.5 lbs. and my vet is fine with that weight, but ideally he should weigh 10.5 lbs (for his frame).

After I read your post I grabbed my scale and weighed my 9 month old kitten. She is 7 pounds. I don't think of her as too small or too skinny. I never even thought about weighing her until I read this. She eats, sleeps, and plays normally. I wouldn't worry.

My Nina who is 8 months is only 6lbs if that, She is healthy and plays and is active - so unless something seems wrong with your kitty I wouldn't worry!

8/9 lbs is a pretty normal weight. My girls that I consider little are only 6 lbs.
