Hi I would like some info I have two budgies male and female for the past two three months they have been mating 5-6-7 times a day every day the female spends 80% to 85% of her time in the nest box only coming out to grab some food for her self or be fed by the male she will not let him enter the nest box fully but she lets him stick his head in. what I need to know is she going to lay soon there both just over a year old

Hi sounds like she will start laying the next couple of days.

Its normal for a female not to allow the male into the nest until she has started laying some females will never allow the male in until the chicks have hatched.

Mkae sure she has plenty of cuttlefish, vitamin/mineral block.
Fresh fruit and veg, And soft foods like pasta, Boiled eggs mushed up, Whole wheat bread.

This will get them used to eating soft foods to feed the chicks when they hatch.

Also they are still a little young most breeders wait until there birds are atleast 2year old before allowing them to breed.

Dont worry too much as she will start to lay when the time comes, she will lay an egg every other day and the incubation period is 19days.
Good luck

Mike.
