Jenny is our 9 week old shih tzu. She recieved a shot today at the vet. Tonight we can't pick her up without her yelping in pain. I can't tell exactly where the pain is coming from. Her back seems fine...it might be coming from her tummy because when we pick her up that's when she cries. I'm so worried...I'm not sure if I should try to take her somewhere tonight or if I should wait to take her to the vet tomorrow. Can anyone give me advice as to what this might be? IP: Logged |

The exact same thing happened to jack when he got his shots, I called the vet cause I thought he was dying. The next day he was back to his old self. He was just tender from the shot. http://www.dogster.com/dog_page.php?j=t&i=4505 IP: Logged |

Isn't that just the scariest thing? All my animals go through that. When you get the rabies shot done...i think its the 3rd or 4th round...WATCH your pup...dont get the shot and then go out or anything like that. Out of 4 dogs I have had 2 bad experiences...both had horrible reactions to it. They were both pomeranians and they swole up so that by the time we got to the emergency vet they looked like mini chow chows. The dogs were totally unrelated but the allergy to the shot can happen to any dog so just make sure you are there for them right after anything like that. When mine get shots I'll usually try to exercise them right before they go..then give them some treats and put them to bed so they hopefully can just sleep off the pain. IP: Logged |
