Our cat just jumped on the couch and sat beside us ... ( very rare he does that in the evening). He was there for a good 10 min then he steached with his head over the side of the couch, at that point he had a sight cough as if he had a fur ball. Then we noticed a drip of water like substance from his nose and then he shook as if he had the chills and that was it.. no heart beat or movement. .. history- 7.5 years old healthy except for the heart murmer. mind you he has had a hard year as we moved cities and lived in a few places before our house was ready. any thoughts on why he died or is this normal. Im so sorry for your loss I don't know what might have caused his sudden death but maybe some of the other posters will have ideas. [This message has been edited by nern (edited 03-09-2004).] IP: Logged |

I'm sorry for your loss. The only way to know for certain how your kitty passed away is to have an autopsy done. Your vet can provide you with more information on the cost and where this can be done (if not with your vet). IP: Logged |

Thats so sad, I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I had a cat that did something quite similar. She just layed down, shook her head and caughed and that was it. The vet said she had a massive stroke. Since you mentioned a heart murmer, it could be that her poor ol' heart just gave out. Again, I'm sorry. You could have a necropsy done to find out for sure, but I think they usually cost around $100 depending on all the tests they run. IP: Logged |
