Hi guys, I am just happy that my kitty is learning to sit and give me her paw. I started teaching her about 2 weeks ago, and she is starting to get really good at it. Just want to share. [This message has been edited by Gary619 (edited 11-03-2003).] IP: Logged |

That is great. How have you been teaching her? IP: Logged |

I started giving her treats when I taught her. The first thing I did was to teach her sit by pushing her bottom when I gave her the treats. About a week or so, couple of times a day, she started to know what she needed to do to get the food. Then I went on to teaching her giving me the paw, by calling "paw" and lifting her paw while I fed her. The first few times, you will have to lift her paw up and call "paw" and then immediately give her the treats, regardless of her reaction, then as your kitten gets comfortable, she will do it herself, even the slightest reaction with her paw, you should give her treats. And about a week or so, she will do it when you tell her to. But of course, it's not perfect yet, I need to call a couple of times to get her do the tricks. It's satisfying though after she learned. That is excitng and I am going to try those tricks on our guy starting tonight. Currently our's will do a roll over and go to you box for treats. People can't believe it when they see he really obeys commands. Very cute. IP: Logged |
