I know it sounds wierd, and I wouldn't want it inside my house. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of it or done it before. I would like to train Harley my 15 month Female AmStaff to go in a certain part of our yard and put a box there. I love my yard and would love to be able to fully enjoy it. We just bought our 1st house last summer and spent so much time fixing up the inside we really neglected the outside. This summer I would like to have a nice yard with no dog poop all over it. Mind you we clean it up enough (trust me) but the pee just kills everything. I think she would also like this because if we are playing catch in the yard and her ball goes near her poo, she won't even pick it up. You can honestly see how disgusted she is.
Anyways, if you got info on it, let me know.
Thanks
Leslie

Bullylove - you can train your dog to use a certain spot, I am not sure how though and if it difficult since he is 15 months old. It has been talked about here before. I sure wish I had trained mine but they are old and too set in their ways! So I use green-um for lawn burn that costs a fortune

There are piddle pads, that have acctractants but I dont know about poo.

I am sure someonce can chime in here on this

I have trained them for inside and out. My mother can't get around the yard so I got her a doggie liter box and it has made her life much easier and she could still keep her companion that she love so much. As to my guys they all only go in one area. You can just buy a post at your local DIY, I use a 6'x 4"x4" and drove a few six inch nails in it about a foot from the bottom, dig a 2 foot deep hole and pour a bag of dry cement in it, add some water from hose and let sit a few days.Try to put pole in and area that has some shade and good run off of water.( No joke) -Oh It is a help if the pole has been broke in by this I mean ask your neighbor or a friend if you could leave the pole for a few hours with there dog and just lay it on the ground. Why because I felt better about knowing the dog and its health and sure enough my males just had to add to the pole after I put it where I wanted them to go even the females would add to it around the pole. DON'T use treated wood, don't us gravel or sand around the pole. Much like when you house trained your pup just take a few piles of there waste and place it a few feet from pole. It does take a little time for them to pick this up and it would not hurt to tell them to go to there area and tell them they did good as I do my guys. Don't scold them if they don't go where they should just show them what you want and give it time.

It works for me I hope it works for you.

Thanks. I am going to go look for that scented pole. I never knew such things were made. If only I could invent something for dogs! We have a perfect spot that is off to the side of the rest of our yard. She kinda goes there now so hopefully it will catch on quick. I amsure if I involve some treats in the process she will be more than happy to oblige.

Honeybear- what is green um. OUr yard is DESTROYED!! From the dog running her laps and playing catch (she runs a certain pattern), plus from being so busy last summer there is some grass dug up. I am hoping to plant some seed and hope for the best.

Another option to try might be fencing off a small portion with temp fencing...put her in the area each time she goes outside first thing, as soon as she goes potty, reward her and let her out to play in the yard. That area will get a smell going that she will call her own.
