Ok, we have one of those big electric gates, and Ranger thinks it is great sport to run out and investigate everything! It doesn't help that most of the time he gets a game of chase, because he likes to run through to the one street in our neighborhood that goes all the way through, and we want to get him before that. He tends to get scared though, if we leave him alone and close the gate. We just need him to learn to stay inside, and I don't know what to do! If we have to go anywhere, someone has to hold him in the garage, leave him there when it is closed, go through the house and get in the car, then we have to back out, close the gate, open the garage and make sure he came out, and then close the garage again, otherwise he gets closed in his crate, but we don't like leaving him there too long! Anyone have any suggestions? We also don't want to use noise to scare him, because he is supposed to grow up and be a hunting dog! Sarah IP: Logged |
