Hello,
My dogs are crazy for coffee!
My husband has lost many cups of coffee due to the fact our dogs hunt for it! The only safe place for coffee is in the microwave. Last weekend, my husband brewed a pot of coffee and Indy stood next to it and licked the vapors. We don’t intentionally give them coffee, what harm can coffee do to our dogs?

I could be wrong about this but, Coffee has caffine in it so I would be on the look out for them trying to drink it. I dont think that would be good just like chocolate! Hav ethe actually tried to drink the coffe or just go crazy at the smell? But I would definitly not let them near it and keep it in a high cabinit from now on. Just my opinion!

That's funny about your dogs liking coffee. My two Huskies love beer! I don't give it to them of course but this all started when they got ahold of an empty beer bottle and knocked it over and started licking it. Now if my husband and I have one they chase us around wanting to lick the beer bottles! My dogs are nuts!

My sister-in-law's dog loves beer as well. But my sister's dog drank too much once (someone left a whole cup of beer sitting on the floor) and got really sick and so is cured!

Mushka will be sure to stick her snout into anybody’s wine glass when no one is looking.
She is a load of fun while entertaining!

I know caffeine is not so good, but isn’t it another chemical in chocolate that is bad for pets?

Oh they drink the coffee, Indy will grab the to-go cup at the opening tilt it up and it all goes down her throat with out spilling a drop!

Sassy, my appaloosa mare(yes horse) loves beer, its not bad for them seeing as its nothing but ferminted barley, but we don't give it too her. People have lost many cans of beer from setting them on the fence and looking the other direction. She'll pick them up and tip them like nothing! Its soooo funny to watch.

The dogs on the otherhand are freeks for hot tea. silly things, when they smell it boiling on the stove they go nuts!!

It is a different ingredient in chocolate that is harmful, but it is a chemical like caffeine. Look at the recent thread about chocolate - lots of good info there.
