A few days ago my neutered 7 year old male just stopped
purring. He seems okay otherwise but it is
odd that he has ceased to purr. He has no
fever and is still eating all his food. I
think he could be depressed since he is confined to 1/2 our house due to a territorial
spraying behavior. This has been the situation
for 2 years so it isn't new. However, I suspect he is unhappy. Anyone got any suggestions?

Hello. Welcome to the site. Do you have other cats/animals in your house? We could help you with the spraying problem. That way your kitty could have free range of the house and be happy.

I have a nearly 9 year old Siamese that I adopted at the age of 2...she's happy, content, loved, loving, etc. The only way I know she's purring is by her body - I can feel her purr...just can't hear it. And she's got that typical Siamese meow so I know she can make noise.

And she purred louder when I first got her than she does not - do you ever feel your cat's motor going when you are holding him or petting him? That's the only way I know with Missy that she's purring

Thanks Chessmind. I have 5 cats, 3 females
and 2 males. Females get the top floor
and males the bottom. The males are still
spraying although altered. The vet told me
to segregate them until this behavior stopped
but it never has. I have tried Feloway, Shoo,
and every other product known to man. I can't
give them the run of the house since every
time I have tried they spray something. If you
have any new suggestions I would be in your
debt.
