I have a 3-month old kitten (from a litter of 4 kittens, all indoor cats) that has not been eating for several days and is very listless. I have been giving Clavamox as instructed by the vet, for the last 2 days and see no improvement. I'm not sure how long the medicine will take to start working. The kitten will not eat any type of canned food, or even the special diet food from the vet. The vet also gave Laxatone gel, but the kitten will not eat it either. She did drink a good amount of water today, but still will not eat. This kitten is very skinny, and is now only about half the size and weight of the other 3 kittens. My vet really did not give me a full diagnosis other than it may be an infection. The other 3 kittens still nurse on the mother occasionally, but this sick kitten no longer does that either.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do, or what may be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am by no means any expert, but I think you need to take the baby back to the vet. It is very dangerous for a cat to go that long without eating. You may want to try chicken or turkey baby food. Sometimes they will eat that when they will eat nothing else. You can use a syringe to put the baby food slowly into his mouth a little at a time. You can give him water that way too. Good Luck!! Thanks so much Yvone, I fed him some canned Hill's veterinary diet cat food slowly, and then he started wanting to eat on his own. He had about 4 oz. of food so far, and I will try to get him to eat more in awhile. Shortly after that he actually was running around and jumped up into my lap Hopefully he will get better soon, tomorrow I will get some baby food to have on hand just in case. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

Hi, Your doing great aslong as you give your kitten food every 30mins or so with the syringe till he eating well.

I would be changing vets he should have done a thorough examination as a kitten of 3months old should be eating well..

But like i say feed every 30mins and he will soon be upto a normal weight and will be a normal bouncy kitten...

I used to feed baby food through a syringe for the first feed and the next feed would be liquidized chicken and within a wekk my mums kittys were doing great...

Plz keep us posted if you need anymore help plz feel free to email me and i will be only to happy to help.

An update on the kitten: He's eating good now on his own, after several times of feeding him with a syringe. I've been feeding him every half hour. He's much more active now, running and playing with the other kittens. Thanks Mike and Yvone for the great advice, I was really desperately worried about him and thought he might not survive. I'll keep you posted on how he's doing. -Justin
