hi everyone.. i just found this forum.. it looks interesting! i was hoping i could get some advice i was given a kitten two days ago as a gift.. i noticedd that she had a few bare patches on her but being a 1st time kitten owner i honestly thought that that was due to her young age and it would grow in(pretty dumb i know) anyways i took her to the vet to get vaccinations and they diagnosed her with mange.. and the kind of mange that is infectious to humans...the dr suggested that i take her back to the pet shop and get a new kitten because the treatment is very costly and she may not live thru the treatment however i love her and am considering just getting the treatment for her...my question is this...how can i keep myself from getting infected? and the sheets, furniture,etc...and if i have to keep her pent up for the next 2 months (treatment time) wont that be psychologically damaging?
i am just really flustered about it all and mad at the pet shop cuz i would think that they would know better than to sell a ill kitten...any suggestions?
thank u!!!!!!!in advance...
love my poor kitten already,
miranda

Kudos to you for not giving up on a cat just because it isn't healthy. People that get an animal then take it back if it isn't healthy make me mad. Maybe the pet shop would help with the treatment? What kind of mange is it? I don't know much about cat mange, just dog mange.
