the silkie guinea pig?

im thinking about getting a silkie but a concern i've read about them is their long hair in this article. Does someone have experience with silkie guinea pigs? I'd like to know how often you actually brush and wash them. As much is i LOVE how they look, i really don't have THAT much more time to raise another pet. Guinea pigs are supposed to be easy pets to raise in general but the soft thin hair of the silkie may seem like a problem.
