I have been given two cockateils from two seperate owers who could no longer have them. We love them we would love to figure out what sex they are and mate them and/or put them in the same cage. They both will sing and whistle tunes when encouraged they are a lot of fun.We also hand raised two sets of lovebirds. They are beautiful, but, one pair is very aggressive, both sets raised us the same way,any ideas on why? HI Even though birds are handraised once they become a bonded pair they dont usually stay very tame some do but others will not. About the cockatiels they can be put together even if they are of the same sex. Just some general questions there is a site that is great on cockatiels they are qualified breeders and showers of cockatiels. Mike. www.cockatiels.org IP: Logged |

If they both whistle tunes and such, they are most likely both males, as females usually do not whistle (although it IS a possibility) You can also tell by their colors. Depending on what kind they are (african grey, lutino, cinnamon, pied etc. etc.) males usually have bright yellow heads. In breeds like lutino or pied, it is much harder to distinguish between sexes. I would just do a lot of research on the Internet IP: Logged |
