I've had my new parakeet for only two weeks. When I come home from work I usually clip open his cage door, not that I think he'll come out on his, but I just want to give him the option.... anyway, yesterday I opened his cage, said hello and walked back to the kitchen. not more than 3 minutes later, I walked back to the living room and he's taking a stroll on the floor!!! I've been trying to take his seeds away at supper time and giving him fruits for an hour or so, hoping he'll eat it.....(nothing yet) I'm wondering if he came out of the cage in search of his seeds! or is it possible he's adjusted to his new home this quickly and felt comfortable enough to leave his cage??? your bird could have been curious of its new surroundings or wanted attention. whenever i leave my birds alone with the cage open, they jump onto the floor and run after me thinking that i forgot about them. maybe yours is starting to trust you more? IP: Logged |

That makes sense.... although it's been a couple of days and he hasn't done it again. IP: Logged |

my parakeets don't normaly walk on the floor, but i agree that he is curious and is starting to trust u more, but since my birds don't get out that much (i have 6 of them) and the would also leave lots of presents behind, but when he hops to your finger he trusts u more. IP: Logged |
