What makes my parakeet peck his cage 50% of the day. This started 4 months ago. Any advice?

Hi, It sounds like he is bored does he have toys in his cage like a mirror or swing things like that.
Males usually bang on wood and cage bars to get the attention of a female in breeding condition.
How old is he?
