after decades of love birds, cats dogs, fish, hamster, etc, i have moved to a state that lets me have my first quaker "oats"..unoriginal i know but i got him to help me lower my cholestrol after i read pet owners who have pets they handle have lower chol...anyway, he or she (?) started out with the sweetest disposition, even after escaping and a night on a walk about by air, he came right back home to me when i had only had him a week..anyway, his personality flipped when he started his first big moult, i feed him extra nutrients, massage and pet and coo him, but he wants more...and not being a bird, i cant quite figure out what that is; and i abhor the idea of plucking him like a turkey just cause he is all a mess...also, i wonder what besides drinking staws to try try for a nest...he seems to crave one and have almost as little idea as to its specific architcture as I do, all the sticks twigs etc i have gathered in the past and sometimes even peeled have not been the materials he is searching for...sorry so long, i just love this bird and want to learn more. mahalo and shalom, c IP: Logged |

he's probably just itchy, try taking the feathers between your nails and gently rub the "hard powder" off. that will make him feel much much better. IP: Logged |
