Author | Topic: Can fish get depressed? |

![]() ![]() ![]() We stocked a 30 gal tank with 6 mollies along with some other fish. As it turned out, only one was female. Needless to say, she got lots of attention from the five males in the tank and was pregnant almost immedietly. We have since moved her to another tank where she is the only molly in the tank. She has given birth three times in three months and is about to drop again any day now. When we moved her, two of the mollies left in the all-male tank started acting listless, laying on the bottom, and in general, acting "depressed." All the other fish in the tank are fine. Has anyone else seen this in a single-gender tank? Thanks! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I have never seen this but maybe you should get a few more females so the males will stop being so "depressed" as you put it. Or some petstores will take a male-female trade. IP: Logged |
