I have had two red bellied piranha's for about 3 months now and recently i have noticed that they are starting to fight. I dont know if they are actually fighting because they aren't swimming away from each other. Is it a male and female thing or for territory or what?I also recently placed a couple pieces of drift wood in the tank creating a little shelter. Could the be fighting because of the new driftwood or what. Please let me know cause i dont want them to kill each other. Thanks IP: Logged |

What is the tank size? Do they have long plants near the surface to hide in? IP: Logged |

the problem is you cant have just 2 piranha's if you have more than one you should have atleast 3 in a tank or just one.i think u should consider buying 2 more now(of the same size)that should fix the prob.my wife has 3 in a tank and they have never went after each other.also u should make sure there is always a few feeders in the tank this helps keep them occupied. yah i agree except buying a schooling fish is wrong if its just one or two. you deminish the whole aspect of the fish. keeping feeders in there is great control as well if they get hungry they eat if not then they don't. i feed my 4 reds 2 dozen guppies every 3 days. never had a problem with fighting yet.
