As far as mutts go, people usually give them away. Dont be fooled into thinking you are getting some new breed of dog. When you mix two breeds together, you cannot rightly assume that you will have a healthy dog. Mixed breeding often results in a lot of health problems.

I disagree and after speaking with our vet we were told that peek-a-poos do not have health issues. THe only thing that was mentioned was in a small dog teeth are the only issue and with regular dental care problems can be avioded.

We just bought a 7 week old peek-a-poo in MA for $400 most we looked at were going for $600+

I have to disagree as well. I think it will be helpful for anyone who has questions or feels the way Dollphin does should check out CKC's website at www.ckcusa.com under the heading "The Uniqueness of CKC as an open registry". It reads that Peek-a-Poos have been bred for 25 years and that when Peks and Poos are crossed their offspring (Peek-a-poos) are stronger, healthier, easier to raise and less susceptible to diseases. I paid $550.00 for a female last December

she now has 5 peekapoo pups 3 black 1 tan
and 1 dark red. They are very healthy and cute. Ready in 3-4 weeks $400.00

I have always heard that mixed breeds are healthier than purebreds, in general. That's because purebreds tend to get certain genes concentrated in the line, which is why certain breeds are prone to certain problems.

as with all animals cross breeding has its problems as i only breed pedigree dogs i have never had a problem my friend on the other hand has bred cross breed dogs and he has never had a problem as with all animals you take a chance on the breed itself aslong as you get you animal from someone that actually knows what they are talking about and know about breeding then you will get a healthy animal i wouldnt advice getting an animal fgrom the classifieds or whats been advitised anywhere else unless you can actually see both parents and have the it checked by a vet then i wouldnt bother with them but there is more well established breeders of pedigree and cross breeds out there i would agree with the other people that have posted in her

I have a pure breed yorkie who has his own set of issues and I have a peke a poo who has her own set. Or I should say things to look at for. Even pure breed dogs are prone to certain aliments. Because PekeAPoos are popular now the price has gone up, it's basic supply and demand. People are willing to pay for a mixed breed or mutt as some call it. I paid $350.00 for my Mutt and I wouldn't have it any other way. She's a doll and I'm glad I did. And Charmedagain is right it really depends on where you get the dog from. A bad breeder will mostly likey have dogs with issues pure or not. Anytime you buy a puppy you are taking a chance.

I have bred Schnoodles for fifteen years now and I love them. When you breed two purebreeds together they will take on the good genetics from both parents. My husband breed cattle also and he has studied how to get the best genes for growth and health. It is also that way with canines. Take two animals with good health and a fantastic personality and you will get a loving, healthy friend. Also they are so cute.
