Hi, I have a twelve week old Yorkie and she has these "coughing" fits when she wakes up. I'm worried because sometimes it sounds like she can't breathe! She did it a little when I first got her, but now she does now she does it constantly! She got sick a couple days ago and the vet said she has Coccidia and gave her medication for it. I'm not sure if this "cough" is the collapsing trachea Yorkies are prone to or the medication or the Coccidia. I'm REALLY worried, but I have never owned a dog before so I don't know if this is normal. If anyone has any information please post or e-mail me at LuluBelle919@hotmail.com. Thank you. IP: Logged |

Kennel cough or allergies can cause that or it could be reverse sneezing .Maltese have it sometimes and so do Yorkies at times .I would check with the vet about an antibiotic though just in case it is Kennel cough or a sore throat . IP: Logged |

Hi MarcieBellasMommy, Is she having 'asthma'? My friend's puppy has difficulties in coughing.Vet said she having allergic to dust and made her cough. My Cheri will cough if she's cold.I will make her wear a little shirt thoughout the nite. Now, she seldom cough...Anyhow, it will be good if u bring her to vet.Hopefully she get well soon.
