I'm looking into getting a Papillon puppy. DOes anyone out there have a Papillon and can give me advise on their personality....and what to look for or avoid. Also, would anyone else recommend another small dog breed? I want a intelligent dog that is small, but mild-mannered and would get along well with cats. IP: Logged |

Welcome hayjack1~ If you are looking for more information on various breeds, I would highly recommend that you take a look at the following two sites: The first web site provides a ton of great information on almost all the breeds out there, including mixed breeds. The site has pretty much everything you would want to know about a particular breed (temperament, health, exercise needs, pictures, origin, etc.). The second web site talks about the positive and negatives of each breed (excluding mixed breeds though, only pure). I regards to breed recommendations, I of course love my two shih-poos, but each to his own. You'll have to do a lot of research to find which breed best suits you and your situation. Best of luck on your search!!! [This message has been edited by MyBabyShihPoo (edited 02-26-2004).] IP: Logged |

I have a male papillon which I have enclosed his picture, Max. He is the most mild tempered dog I ever met, I got him from a breeder in Oklahoma, I am from NY. From the time I got Max he was at my side all the time, I did not even have to put him on a leash he was that attached to me. He is so adorable and very playful I have never seen him become aggresive towards anyone, (except other dogs that come over, he does not like that too much but he just growls) he is wonderful w/children, I have none personally but I have kids that come see him alot and he loves to play. Max is 14 months old and he is about 7.5-8 pounds, he sheds minimal (more in the winter) he is the best pet I ever had. In fact as we speak I am in the process of getting another papillon male (Max's brother). Any other questions on papillons I would be happy to answer. IP: Logged |
