Today I decided to purchase Pet Insurance for Jack. Has anyone else here done that and how has it worked out for you? http://www.dogster.com/dog_page.php?j=t&i=4505 IP: Logged |

I have insurance on my Horses and dogs. Its wonderful, but make sure your vet takes that insurance, some don't. I pay 6 dollars a month per pet, and its great! IP: Logged |

Sams - what pet insurance do you use? Just wondering b/c I looked into it and the ones I came across were like $20/mo per pet. With 3, that adds up quick. IP: Logged |

I have pet insurance also for my 15 month old papillon and it costs me $10.95 per month and I think it is well worth it/ you get like $30 a year for flea prevention, I think like $15 for heartguard and $65 for spay/neuter or teeth cleaning. The number is 1-800-540-2016 the more dogs you have I think the cheaper it is. They also have a website, the insurance name is Veterinary Pet Insurance......Hope that helps...... IP: Logged |

I have pet insurance also. It cost me 13.95 a month for up to 4 pets on the family plan. It covers everything from normal visits to you name it. I am very happy with it. It is called pet assure. IP: Logged |

Papillon/Mom... i took a look at the insurance you suggested and it sounds very interesting! I'm curious how you do the claims to get reimbursed... how does that work? I like the fact that you don't have to go to a specific doctor/vet. The other insurance that was discussed was with Pet Assure - but you had to go to a vet on their program (and my vet isn't). Anyhow, was curious about Veterinary Pet Insurance... it was pretty inexpensive! I should have thought about this when we first got Bailey -- it cost an arm and a leg for all his puppy care and vaccinations for the first 6 months! IP: Logged |

To get reimbursed you just fill out a claim form, your vet should have one if not they send you like 2, 3 when you first sign up but you can also print them online too. I like it I got Max neutered and they paid $65 and it only took like 2, 3 weeks to get reimbursed. Any other questions I would be glad to help. As far as partisipating vets I don't think the vet has to take any part they just have to sign to say that, those were the services provided on your claim form. I am no expert but these are just my experiences. IP: Logged |

Papillon/Mom, I tried to look up the insurance you mentioned - Veterinary Pet Insurance - and I'm getting a much higher quote than what you mentioned. Was I at the wrong website? A google search sent me to "petinsurance.com", and it said it was "VPI". Also, I did a reverse lookup on the phone number and it was some furniture company. Help! The website I visited gave a quote of $19.92 a month, or $30 a month for higher coverage. Much more than you're payer. Diane P.S. I saw a picture of Max on another thread. He is so adorable!!! dbuzz, I found the insurance she was talking about on: http://www.petinsurance.com/ Since they asked questions about the age/size/etc of the dog, I'm assuming the quote takes that all into account... which is why it would be more for one vs. another...? Just a guess. Papillon/Mom, Thanks for the info. I'm still debating... OF COURSE I should have done it when I first got Bailey cuz now I've already paid for all his vaccinations, neutering, chip, etc.... you'd think he'd be FREE at this point IP: Logged |
