Sheba was given to me as a gift from my friend Billy. He found her in the home of an elderly couple who couldn't even see her, much less take care of her. They said she was 3 months old at the time, and I have since had her for 2 months. When I first got her, she was scared to death of everything, I even had to put her in the tub with ME to get her to relax and take a bath. She is small, less then 3 lbs. and is very precious to me, however, I am having this horrible problem with potty training! She did really good and I thought she was completely trained to the paper, but now, when I turn my back, she potty's where ever she wants!!!She even tries to manipulate me, and make me think she doesn't have to go, and when I turn around, she shoots out like a rocket to potty in the boys room!Sheba is very intelligent, the day I got her, I started saying names out loud, and she threw a fit when I said Sheba, so she has picked her own name even... so if she is smart enough to understand what I say, and smart enough to try and manipulate me, then how get I get her back on the potty paper??? ANY suggestions will help me. Thanks, Marie IP: Logged |

I don't have a puppy, but your does sound very smart. Sounds to be an Alpha tempermant. With her peeing on you kids things she is trying to show that she is basically top dog in the family including over your kids. If you go over to the dogs section and look thru the archives their is a thread called "Food for Thought" In there you will find many links to puppy problems. I can only say to keep bringing the pup either outside or piddle pads for her potty breaks. Make sure you are not confusing her and doing both, that will confuse her. Remember you have a dog that was used to doing things one way and now has to be retrained. Don't yell at her for her mistakes too. Check out the food for thought thread. On the dogs forum ok. ------------------ IP: Logged |
