I have been infatuated with Toy Poms since I saw some for sale in South Beach Miami. The seller said they grow to only 3-6 lbs. I am really interested in a pom this size, and have been having a terrible time learning about them online. I would really appreciate some input about their size, habits, availabiltiy, price, reputable breeders, and whatever else I should know. IP: Logged |

Check out this site: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/pomeranian.htm and also this site: http://pets.yahoo.com/pets/dogs/breed/pomeranian and here is a list of a few Pom breeders in GA, could'nt tell you if they are reputible or not but maybe you can contact some of them and ask questions: http://classifieds.yahoo.com/display/pets?ct_hft=table&cs=-pty%2C-time+1&fullnodeid=&cc=pets&ck=pomeranian&za2=and&cr=Georgia&Submit=Search IP: Logged |

Hi, I have two poms. One wieghts 4.5 and the other a little over 5lbs. I dont think they were breed to be small on purpose just turned out that way. Their parents were both bigger. Mom like ten lbs and the dad like 9. Anyway, both of mine are very hyper and play play play. They are great watchdogs lol. Bark at the leaves going by. One is more of a lap dog than the other. Belle is my little tom boy. Love to play in the mud and get into things, while fifi would be content all day in your lap. One odd thing I have learned about them, they love to try and lick your teeth. This is their mission in life, they hold u down and try to get to your teeth. I think its gross but my 2 yo lets them do it. I dont know alot about their availiability, as I said they werent breed small on purpose. I paid $300 for my first and the second was given to us by someone who couldent keep her, I think she paid around $500. I live in a rural area and both came from breeders who breed like once a year, nothing fancy, but I have seen poms on the net go for up to $3000. I dont know if they actually classify them as Toy poms, I thought all poms were considered toy. Their size range is from 3-12 lbs. 4-7 ideal for show poms I believe. But i have seen alot of refrence to toy poms latetly so I may be wrong. Some people breed smaller dogs to make them smaller, but I think they are all just classified as poms, not toy, minature and so on. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Anyway good luck in your search! IP: Logged |

I personally don't know a lot about the particular breed, but along with the other sites provided in the previous posts, you may want to take a look at this website. It gives an honest and factual review of the pros and cons of each pure bred breed. This link is a direct link to the pomeranian pros and cons: http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/pomeranians.html Good luck with your search!!! IP: Logged |

I bought my pom in NY they take very very good care of them and they are only 600 bucks when they are usually 1000. They can grow to 3-7 lbs depending on how you spoil him. But it can get bigger than that if you over feed it so dont because its bad for theri hearts.they can get to 8-11 inches high from the paw to their shoulder and the life span is you take good care of it is 12-16 years, usually They are very energetic and are good with children. They need special grooming needs like they need to be brushed 2 to 3 times a week and trimmed every 3 months. They dont need a lot of exercise, a trip around the block is plenty for their little hearts. Pomeranians can tend to be a little cocky and bark and growl at larger dogs like rottweilers. HEHE keep them away from rottweilers.... Their coat colours can be red orange cream sable black brown blue( not really blue just DARK DARK DAKR DARK DARK DARK DARK blue) and it can be a mix of them. Their tail can be straight or curled and places on it back.
Some health concerns: underscended testicules, patellar luxation, collapsing fro no reason, tooth and gum disease. SO TAKE CARE OF YOUR POM! o ya... dont get your dog at a young young age it will throw up all over....like mine.... IP: Logged |

My little girl pom is hyper but she can settle down when she is tired. I think as she gets older she will be more of a lap dog.. she likes to chew her bones and chewies on your stomach or near you. .. unless it is something special to her and then she tryies to run outside with it or under the bed. I think that they are all small toy dogs.. there isn't such a thing as a tiny toy.. unless it is the size that only fits in your hand and doesn't grow any larger than that. My girl is only suppose to get 5-6 pounds. She is 4 now and is 6 months. IP: Logged |

ugahorsegrl.. are you on/near south beach? i assume you saw the poms with the two men? they push them in a stroller? they go out to dinner on lincoln road just about every friday and saturday night.. there pups are just the sweetest.. you'll always see them either strolling lincoln road or sitting outside eating dinner with the poms right by their side.. sorry i'm not giving you any info but maybe you can talk to them.. if you are on south beach the people at the dog bar may be able to put you in contact with them..
