how long do you wait to bathe your pet after application of flea treatment? i cannot find a waiting period anywhere on the packaging or the website.. the only thing it says is to not touch the area until it is dry.. would it be okay to apply the product today and bath tonight or tomorrow? My vet says not to until about a week ,he says it can be washed off very easily and it needs time to work .I ask him the very same thing a few weeks ago . IP: Logged |

yeah my vet says to wait three days.. but neither the packaging or the website give a waiting period; they both just say to not touch until dry! hmmm... has anyone applied the product first and then bathed their pet (12-24 hours later?) did the product still work? IP: Logged |

I have always waited approx. a week until I bathed my two shih-poos after applying the frontline. The frontline does need some time to soak in, so just to be on the safe side I wait a week. Just my opinion, IP: Logged |

That is the reason I ask my vet .I put frontline on Sam and the others and then Koko went and got in the mud and had to have a bath ,so I needed to know about the fronline and my vet said ..do it again ,I had just washed it off .This was the next morning after and I found fleas on Koko after I gave him a bath ,on the next day so I reapplied frontline and in a few days he was fine again .You can wash it off before it really starts to work .Some products like Revolution which I like for the puppies take up to three days just to start working . When it comes time to apply it I will usually bathe them first then apply. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I use Advantage and usually apply a day or two after giving a bath but I've also given a bath a day or two after applying it and it seemed to continue working. Here is what it says on the Advantage website, www.nofleas.com - "Will Advantage still work if my pet goes swimming or takes a bath? Advantage is water-resistant. It continues to work even when your pet gets wet. Advantage works against fleas even after a shampooing, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight." Im sure this may vary depending on which product your using. IP: Logged |

well i am going to give it a try.. yesterday while brushing bella i noticed a single flea near her behind.. i am having a party today and had planned to bathe her today so she looks all pretty when everyone is over (she loves the people and the attention).. since the frontline always leaves a little greasy spot where i apply it i wanted to apply it and then bathe her so that she looks beautiful i applied it yesterday before noon and will bathe her today around 1:30pm.. i will let you all know how it works out and whether the fleas stay away!! thanks for everyones input.. i usually do what you all do, bathe, wait a couple of days, apply the product, and then bathe again about a week after application.. My vet had told me NOT to bathe my dog for a day or two before applying because the skin's natural oils help the solution to spread. Then he said to also hold off for 2 days to give her a bath afterwards. But I would say if the manufacturer doesn't say anything, baths are probably OK. -Alison IP: Logged |

It is always best to wait a few days after a bath for the natural oils to build back up before you apply any topical flea treatment .Also it is best to wait at least a week after to give a bath .Advantage is the only one that says you can give a bath directly after . IP: Logged |
