As we all know, poodle need constant brushing and clipping. So to the many owners of such mixes as pekepoo, What sort of hair does your pekepoo grow. Is it like the peke or like the poodle. What sort of grooming do you have to do? With pekinese I believe usually it is plenty of brushing only no clipping right. I am just wondering with the poodle thrown in how does it change the grooming or does it? I own a min. poodle. So I am always doing something to her. IP: Logged |

my pup is 1/2 shih tzu and 1/2 toy poodle.. when i first saw her i fell in love but was hesistant because i know both breeds require a ton of grooming.. so i asked around and found out that a lot of mixed breeds, of dogs with hair, tend not to get too long of hair (but i can't say always, never can with mixes).. anyway, bella's hair never grows too long, maybe 4-6 inches max and only on the very top layer, nearest to the middle of her back.. she also almost never mats up.. i try to brush her every day but when i go away she spends time at my boyfriends parents house (they've never had a dog and therefore never brush her) and she doesn't mat, even after a week.. anyway that's my experience IP: Logged |

Thats good news I have always wondered about that. It is strange though when you think about it, you have two breeds together that are notoriuos for having hair issues and yours does not even matt up. You are one lucky person. Or maybe bella is the lucky one because she does not have to deal with having her hair tugged at. She is cute. IP: Logged |

i have a maltipoo--she matts horribly! her hair doesn't go to the ground as a true maltese but shes not far from it. i had her groomed for the first time a month ago and i love it. she has i guess what they call a puppy cut. they kept her face & beard on the long side, they put the top in a topknot with a bow and her body they cut down to about an inch. its adorable and much more stress free than before. she does not like her hair brushed so its a godsend for both of us. luvmypets: its probably that puppy hair. Some dogs keep that baby like hair, others shed it around 4 months and get their adult coat. Keep that brush handy. IP: Logged |
