My six month old peekapoo has about 3 small stuffed animals that she favors. The weird thing is that she will put one in her mouth and run around the house whinning, as though she is looking for something. Does anyone have any thoughts on why she would do this?? IP: Logged |

Maybe she wants to hide it. My dog often whines while she is looking for places to "bury" her toys or chews in my house. Just a thought. IP: Logged |

Glad to hear that my pekepoo isn't the only one that does this. He does it when I give him a treat after he goes outside to potty. The first time he did that it scared me because I thought he was choking or it was hurting his teeth to chew it. It is so funny to see him do this now. He tries to hide it under a toy or under his pillow on the floor. He is 5 months old and he is always doing something funny to get attention. IP: Logged |

I'm also glad to know that my PeekaPoo isn't the only one that does this too. I have several PeekaPoos, I breed them and I currently have a male that does the same thing. Especially when I first get home. He will get his favorite stuffed toy in his mouth and run around whinning. I figured it was that he was happy to see me and that maybe he was showing me his tricks or something. None of my other PeekaPoos do this. Oh, well, I love them all the same. They are such a joy in my life. IP: Logged |

I have a 6 month PeekaPoo and when I give him this one treat he will walk around my apartment crying trying to find a place to hide it. I felt so bad for him. I would even walk around with him trying to show him places to hide his little treat IP: Logged |

i have a 10 month old malti-poo. she has treats stuffed into the corner of everything we sit on. our couch, loveseat & chair all have treats in the corners. when she sees us taking a seat she will run over and "check" to see if her treat is still there. some are so old! she does this with treats that aren't her favorites. pupperoni's are her favorite and she will eat them right away. she will also take a treat and plop it in the middle of her doggie pillow. she will then spend 5 minutes shoveling her nose against the fabric trying to cover it up. we laugh so hard we cry because she just doesn't seem to get it that its not hidden when shes through. after she walks away our other dog (who has been watching and probably laughing too) calmly walks over to the pillow and eats the "hidden" treat. by then my husband and i are on the floor because this happens often. she has a favorite lambie toy that she will pick up and whine with it in her mouth. i've not figured out what thats all about. this is my first small dog and its scary how much we love her. she has just been a treasure to us with her funny antics. and i love hearing other people tell their stories about their babies. thanks everyone for sharing. Wow, there sure are alot of these little ones that do the same thing. My terrier mix did not know what to do with any toy at the age of one when we got him from the shelter. It was sad to see such a young dog that obviuosly was not shown how to have fun. I had bought him all sorts of toys but he did not know what to do with them, he would cringe if i through a ball. Now he is a nut at three years of age. Loves all toys and every time I come home he will greet me with one of his sqeaky toys. at least 4 times he has brought out my underwear. three times he actually head one leg thru and his head. He was wearing my undies. The last time I took an APS picture of him because no-one would believe this. I still need to finish that roll of film. My sisters terrier also hides food. We always thought it was maybe because she at one time was not fed enough. But with your dogs that might not be the case. I have also heard of people saying it was a motherly type of thing to do, to carry a toy around and cry. I guess they are worried about their baby (the toy). IP: Logged |
