![]() ![]() ![]() when our kitten is hungry she always comes to us and is very affectionate and then she goes to eat. Food is always on the floor available to her, she doesnt need to 'ask' us for it. this is causing a problem because she wakes us up at least twice a night doing this and more worryingly she doesnt seem to eat anything when we are away- even on the occassion we were gone for 12 hours. does anyone know why this happens? ![]() ![]() ![]() do you get up during the night to feed her? Also how old is she? I wonder if she's just not used to eating alone. Actually I go through the same thing with my not quite 2 year old Zeus...fact he's right now here rubbing himself all over the monitor, keyboard (typos will be his) in my face cause he doesn't like the flavor of Fancy Feast that's in the dish./ Had to battle him for the mouse Anyway...what was I saying Zeus used to wake me up during the night for food...I had to ignore him or put him out of the room eventually he stopped. But like I mentioned he's still in myf ace if he doesn't like the choice of food. I'm not sure that'll ever stop - but I have to admit I do enforce his behavior cause I get tired of having to fight for the computer mouse and I give him another flavor...so he's learned this works IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hello. Have you considered getting her a friend (another kitty)? It sounds like she may be lonely. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Sometimes cats associate food with affection. Mine that do this used to be feral. The only time they would let me pet them was when they were eating now. Now they still like to be pet when they are eating. They will eat if I don't pet them, they just prefer to be pet. I wouldn't worry about it unless she stops eating and loses weight. Try picking her up and taking her to her food when she does this, either that or ignore her. If you pet her while she is eating it will just reinforce the behavior. I think she will eat if you aren't there, she just prefers for you to be there. Most cats wont starve themselves without a medical reason. IP: Logged |
