I've joined the ranks of cat owners whose furry family member has taken to peeing on my down comforterS!! Talk about drying two down spreads. Last kitten we had picked the same bed and we returned him to rescue as he didn't seem to like as very much at all. (He likes his new family better-yeah) But now-my daughter's darling cat has started this miserable habit. We can't bear relinquishing her back to a shelter-we've had her 6 mos now and my daughter loves her to pieces. We all do- even my grumpy husband who gets real grumpy when he can't have his blankey. Has anything worked??? We have listed our house and I do keep telling her we plan on bringing her with us-just in case Sonya from Animal Planet is right- and I can't seem to convince her this behavior is not okay. She's been to the vetted; no infection- but treated just in case to be on the safe side (if there is such a thing with antibiotics) and I'd like to try Feliway or anything, as long as it's possible to work and/or won't hurt her. What to do- what to do??? IP: Logged |

Hello. Welcome to the site. So, you took her to the vet and she doesn't have a UTI? Perhaps, you could try several things. 1) Change your cat litter. 2)Keep the litter box very clean. Cats do not like a dirty litter box. 3)Get her one more litter box (some cats like to have two, one to urinate in and the other to poop in). Is the one you have hooded or unhooded? Whatever it is, get the opposite. 4)Put the litter boxes in a quiet and private place. If your litter box is in a noisy area, she may not want to use it (i.e. laundry room). 5)Yes, try Feliway. Members here say it works great. Good luck and keep us posted. IP: Logged |

One temporary solution is to cover your bed with a plastic sheet so it's not good for her to pee on. Also clean the comforter with Natures Miracle if it wont hurt the color. It will get all of the smell out. IP: Logged |

I'll tell my mum this cos one of her cats pees on the bed so she never lets him in her bedroom But her boyfriend keeps letting him in lmao You notice how the moment you clean the litter tray the cat has a poo lol like they have been storing it up for the fresh tray, plus Kes likes to kick it all over the place as soon as I clean it out, dohhh Kev IP: Logged |

I'm begining to wonder if down comforters have a certain smell to them that makes them attractive for some cats to urinate on. I would either restrict her (if possible) from the room that she is doing this in or maybe even try removing the down comforter from the room to see if she continues to urinate on the bed. nern I am wondering the same thing. I recently purchased an alternative down comforter for my bed and was given a down throw blanket for a present. I have had the alternative down comforter on my bed for 2 days with no problems. Last night I decided to drape the down throw blanket over the couch. I put it like that and left for a couple of hours. I came home and it had been peed on! I washed it so we will see if they pee on it again. So far they have left the alternative down comforter alone. We'll see what happens, I have an interesting control to compare the real down blanket to! IP: Logged |

Fleafly: Keep us posted. I'd be interested to find out if they do it again. It seems like several people have had problems with cats peeing on down comforters, pillows, ect. I tried doing a search online but could'nt find any info. on cats being attracted specifically to down comforters. IP: Logged |
