OK i got a new kitten, and i love her to death. but i think that she might be pulling away from me, like you know, she doesnt see me as much as i would like and i think that she might not bond well with me. at first i would pick her up and pet her and love her and she would stay. but now when i get home from work or school and try to do that she just jumps away. and i dont know why. is it because shes a kitten? when i first go her she was under fed and its been about two week and she has GAINED weight. the vet said she has gained weight nicely. could that be a reason, that now that she is on a regular diet she has more energy and the kitten i knew at first was just a tried hungery kitten? what do ya think? Some cats are just more independent then others. It also may just be that she's young. I had one cat, Punk, who for about the first 4 yrs of his life, he would come to the house maybe once a week. The rest of the time he just hung around outside (we put food outside for him). Now, he's 10 yrs, I can't get him out of my lap. IP: Logged |

Sounds kind of like my cat too. He gets upset and meows and howls for what seems like hours if I don't let him sleep in my room. But the last week or so he has been spending the whole night under my bed instead of on it with me. Of course he still wants to pounce on me early in the morning. IP: Logged |

My cats have done the same thing. I think its a normal kitten thing. First off they want to be with you all the time, and then they get a little braver and more independent. She will find a happy medium eventually. Right now everything is just so intresting and new to her and she just now has the bravery to check it out by herself. At least thats what I think. Yeah, like Kes too, she is so independent, like she will only do stuff when she wants, sometimes I wanna stoke her and cuddle but she doesn't want to, then other times I'm busy and she wants a cuddle lol She sits by the front door and meows when she hears noises, but I've not let her out yet cos she is only young. She just sits on the window looking out Kev IP: Logged |

congratulations of your new addition. we just got a new kitten too. this is my 4th in 15 years. (2 have passed on) kittens are like people. they have to get to know you to love you. give it time. give it space. one day you will be sitting there and reallize how close you two have become. this takes time.... in years. love take time..... enjoy your journey to getting to know each other...and don't forget to play together and have fun!!!
