Does anyone know the difference between these two? My kitties are currently eating Purina KITTEN Chow, and when I switch them to an ADULT cat food, I really dont know which one would be better for them, the cat chow or the cat chow indoor formula???

Both my kitties are indoors.....never outside

Any ideas?? Thanks!

I would probably stick with the regular Purina Cat Chow formula. The indoor formula is quite similar to most lite formulas(lower protein, fat, calories and higher fiber) and is probably not neccessary unless your kitties are becoming overweight.
Have you considered going with a higher quality food?

I looked at the indoor formula, but I was not impressed at all with the ingredients. I would suggest changing foods all together. I used to feed Purina until I started looking into cat nutrition. The ingredients in Purina are crap. I would suggest:

-Diamond
-Chicken Soup for the Cat lovers Soul
-Authority
-Nutro Maxx
-Natural Balance

Diamond and Chicken Soup don't cost much more than Purina.

I always thought that Purina was good too. I just started learning about nutrition recently. Look at the ingredients in Purina, they have a lot of fillers. I try to get a food that has real meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have too many meals, by products, or fillers like rice. Plus Purina doesn't have fatty acids to help the cats coat. Switching my cats from Purina to a better food I could really see a difference in their coat. Their fur was softer and fluffier. It was amazing.

Diamond is 14.00 for a big bag and Chicken Soup is 15.25 for a big bag where I live. I'm not at home, so I don't know exactly how many lbs are in them.

You can get more info on diamond at: http://www.diamondpetfood.com/

I was just wondering if Science Diet was a good quality cat food, when I adopted my cat the adoption agency told me this was the best bran available.

I really want to give my cat the best so if there is a better one and I can find a place that sells it I would gladly switch.

I don't really like Science Diet either. They have a lot of fillers and by-products. There are a lot of better brands out there including:

-Natural Balance
-Wellness
-Felidae
-Innova
-Nutro Maxx
-Diamond
-Authority
-Chicken Soup

Chicken Soup and Diamond are the cheapest, the others cost more. Natural Balance, Nutro Maxx, Authority, Innova and Chicken Soup are the only ones I have personal experience with. I liked all of them except Innova. Well I guess I should say my cats liked all of them except Innova, they wouldn't eat it.

I don't care for Science Diet either...its over-rated IMO. My cats seem to do best on Innova but I've also used and liked Felidae, Chicken Soup, California Natural, Solid Gold, Healthwise, Royal Canin and Wysong.
If your interested in finding out if a certain brand is available in your area you can check the store locators on many of the manufacture's websites.
Here are some websites that have store locators on them:
Innova, California Natural, Healthwise - www.naturapet.com
Wellness - www.oldmotherhubbard.com
Solid Gold - www.solidgoldhealth.com
Natural Balance - www.naturalbalanceinc.com
Nutro - www.nutroproducts.com
Felidae - www.canidae.com

I don't think Diamond's products (including Chicken Soup) are available in Canada yet but I think you might be able to find Natura, Nutro,Solid Gold and maybe a few other brands there.

I'm a member of the Purina Pro Club...I encourage everyone to become a member. THey have great offers, cupons and stuff.

ANyhow, get me started , I'll never shut up.

The indoor formula has less fat, carbs, protien. Since cats that are indoors all the time, they usually don't get the exersize an inside/outside or all outside cat gets.

I still feed the regular Purina Cat chow to Tom.
