My cat just kind've picked up on it, I always talked to her and called her Gracie, and now she knows that is her name ! She comes when called, and, if you are talking to her and say her name, she will meow and talk back! IP: Logged |

I've always just made sure to use their name a lot initially, when I'm petting them or talking to them, feeding them, generally in a positive setting. It takes a while for them to come when they are called (but isn't that true of most cats even when they know their names?). Eventually they figure it out. IP: Logged |

my kittie actually learned her name quicker than i expected! we've only had her about 3 weeks to a month and she always comes when she is called. i think it's a result of just talking to her and saying it all the time, to the point where you feel like an idiot! my kitten doesn't like treats, but i think it helped to pat her and tell her she's a good kitten when she showed up after being called. good luck!
