Ok, I have 3 cats. The first cat we got turned out she was deaf. The second cat we got is "normal" and the third (we saved from an abusive home) is blind. Here is the problem the deaf cat absolutely hates the blind cat. She hisses, growls and swats at him anytime he is around or she can see him. We have tried everything that we know to do. Even to the point of putting the deaf cat on anti-anxiety medicine. However I dont like having to drug up my cat so the she will get along. Oh, the first and second cats get along fine, they are both female neutered and the third is a male also spayed. Any advice would be helpful. thanks IP: Logged |

yoJWH - you didnt say how long you have had the blind cat, but a lot of times they need to be introduced very slowly over a period of time. it may take a few weeks or a few months. Here are a couple website with some tips on introducing a couple cats to each other. Good luck! http://www.purina.com/cats/behavior.asp?article=116 http://www.catcaresociety.org/intro.htm http://www.homevet.com/petcare/petmeet.html#cats

Weird! Is it normal for female cats to get along in general? The spayed female cat I used to have that I gave to my sister and my boyfriend's spayed female cat never got along. They hate each other and spat and swatted. But Newton (boy cat neutered) always got a long with my female cat and also with my boyfriend's female cat. I have heard in general it is good to have opposite sex pets. IP: Logged |

Newton: I had two spayed females when I was a child and they always got along fine. I also currently have two spayed, females that get along great. I think it really depends on the individual cat, how it was socialized as a kitten and when it was spayed but I have heard the same as you about getting the opposite sex....2 cats of the opposite sex are less likely to fight than 2 cats of the same sex.
