Help! My kitten is so wonderful, most of the time. However, she gets extremely aggressive toward other people that smell like other animals (including the vet). My vet is at a loss for advice. She feels that our only option may be to put the cat down. This is not an option for me. Does anyone have any suggestions for modifying my kitten's behavior. IP: Logged |

I am horrified that your vet suggested putting your cat down for a behavior problem. I would never go to that vet again if it was me. You might slowly get her used to other smells by leaving a blanket that smells like another animal around. This way she could get used to the smell without the threat of the other animal. Other people might have better suggestions. IP: Logged |

I agree with everything Fleafly said. You may also find some useful info. on this site: http://www.ivis.org/advances/Behavior_Houpt/horwitz/chapter_frm.asp?LA=1 If nothing seems to work you may want to contact an animal behaviorist for further help. IP: Logged |
