Hi everyone I am new to this site, dont realy know how it works, but i hope i am going the right way about getting some help/advice. this problem happens every few weeks (worse in summer) My cat Gala, is a tortie/tabby aprox 5 years She is treted regularly with Advantage / frontline for protection against Fleas. My house and her bedding are treated buy vetchem to protect against fleas. I have tried the veterinary diet of Royal Canin sensitivity. However every few weeks she gets lumps/ bumps always on her head, normally in front of her ears/ above her eyes which cause servere itching, they then develop into large sores aproximatly 1 cm - 3cm in diameter, within 24hrs. The vet says it is an allergic reaction to something but can not suggest anything else I should try, then cuts her claws off and injects her with antibiotics / steroids and anti inflammatory drugs. I can not keep taking this poor cat to the vets every month and subjecting her to the trauma Anyone come across anything similar - or is there a know cause of allergic reaction in cats except fleas or food? Any advice would be so appreciated IP: Logged |

Hi Someone else on this board mentioned something about Allergies in their cat a few days ago. Check the responses on that posting... As I mentioned there, I have heard of tap water being a problem. Try giving your cat distilled/bottled water. Its possible in the summer, they add more chemicals to combat the heat and bacteria. Good luck. IP: Logged |

Ask your vet if your cat can have benadryl. I know dogs can. If she can have benadryl, then you can give it to her whenever she starts getting bumps. If it happens every few weeks, is there something else that happens every few weeks also. My dogs are allergic to pollen and seasonal stuff like that, so maybe she is too. If you really want to know what it is, try keeping a log where you write down what she ate and drank that day, her activities, the weather and anything that you brought into the house or put on her. This could help you pick up on a trend you are missing. Personally, I would try the benadryl first and see how that works. IP: Logged |
