I just got a small kitten from the animal rescue league. He has gotten the sniffles and has been sneezing. We have been trying to keep him warm. Eating habits are just fine. Any advice on what he needs to get over this? IP: Logged |

Hi My cats get colds during times of stress and there is nothing I could do except wait 'til it passed. It usually lasts for about a week. However, my cat Miko also came from the local SPCA as a kitten along with a case of the sniffles and was sneezing. After a few days I noticed a rasping noise when she purred like she had chest congestion. I took her to the vet and it turned out she had pneumonia. They gave her antibiotics and she was fine. As for your kitten watch her eating habits, her breathing and listen to her purr. Also keep a look out for greenish mucous which is a sign of infection and take her to a vet if there is anything out of the ordinary. Enjoy your new addition. IP: Logged |
