I have a 1 year old neutered Kitty named Ralph and in m=March when we got him fixed he wieghed 10lbs 8ounces. Over the past 2 months he's been losing weight. He eats fine and drinks fine, but his little bones are starting to show. When I weighed him last week he was at 8lbs even!!! I can't figure out what's wrong... IP: Logged |

You may want to have him checked by a vet since weight loss could mean a number of things. Does he appear to be lethargic or sick in anyway? Is he exetremely active? When he went to the vet was he dewormed and tested for Felv/Fiv? It could be something as simple as worms or it might be something more serious. If he loses any more weight...I would get him to a vet right away to have any health problems ruled out. IP: Logged |

Hi. Reading your post - two immediate thoughts come to mind. Diabetes or Thyroid Disorder - both cause loss of weight in spite of the cat eating normally. Both require blood tests for proper diagnosis. With diabetes the cat will drink excessively; with thryroid (hyperactive); the cat will lose weight. I also agree with the above comment - I would keep an eye on your cat and if the weight loss continues, bring kitty in to a vet you trust. IP: Logged |
