Hello, this is my first post but I've been scanning the site and find it most informative. My 2.5 month old kitten has apparently done something to her left rear leg, in particular I think to her hip. She favors it greatly when walking (hobbling), usually just not using it at all, and yowls terribly whenever she moves. I'm not sure what she could have done to it, and want so badly to help her. But 1) I am absolutely broke and don't know of any vets here who will take her without a fee, or at least on some deal, and 2) I have no idea what I can do for her at home to dull her pain and/or help her leg to heal. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. IP: Logged |

I'm so sorry to hear about the poor little one. Has she taken a big spill or fall that could have caused a fracture? Has she possibly gotten under foot or been closed in a door? These are typical accidents a little one can experience because these little furballs are so playful and inquisitive. If any of the above have occurred - not to worry it happens to everyone. You should seek a vets attention, could be a fracture or simply a dislocated hip. Try calling your local shelter or ASPCA to see if they have suggestion of a vet that could arrange a payment plan with you for services rendered now. In the past I have found myself in your shoes - I ended up calling most of the vets in my area in the phone book - asking them if I could pay at a later time. Sometimes they will take a post dated check or a credit card number and process the payment at a later date. You just need to find a vet with a heart that understands the situation. If you cannot find such a vet, you should take kitty to the ASPCA so that they can provide the vet care he/she needs. I wish you the best of luck - hopefully you can locate such a vet. Keep us posted - hope my advice helps. IP: Logged |
