Help! My Cat's Won't Drink... I recently moved into a new aparment and my cat's are accustomed to drinking from a clean bathtub where the water comes from the head of the tub below the shower head. Well, for some reason, in the new apartment, my cat's won't drink water at all. Not from a bowl and very rarely from the bathtub. I am concerned for their health. I am going to try to use a water fountain, but I think they may not like the taste of the water. Please help!!!!! IP: Logged |

Hi Try adding some water to their wet food, just enough to make it a little less solid but not too much that they have cat food soup. This will give them a little extra water in them. Do they urinate regularily? IP: Logged |

Yes, it could be the new water system. To get them used to it, have you tried adding some warm milk to the water? As time goes on you could use less and less milk. Keep the water bowls out too. Good luck. IP: Logged |

some water is highly chlorinated and cats really dislike the taste. Try boiling the water and letting it cool before you give it to them or let it stand for a couple of days. I always find that cats seem to be a bit secrative about drinking anyway. I only see one of mine drink from the bowl but I know the other two do as I am always cleaning paw prints from the kitchen sink, toilet, bath, basin etc! from the book of Cat Zen "Thou Shalt not Drink from the Toilet Whilst Thine Owner is Watching" IP: Logged |

I agree that a kitty water fountain may help - if your water is chlorinated and you dont' have time to boil it, you can try using distilled water - places like wal-mart have the reverse-osmosis filters and the water is not expensive at all. Kitties can be picky ;b Good luck with yours!!! IP: Logged |
