One of my three cats started in our hall. After my husband did some detective work by setting up a kitty cam, we were able to determine which one it was. Tigger, who is one of the most lovable, amiable cats I've ever had, was and pulling up the carpet. I immediately took him to the vet. We did the antibiotics. Still . We ran tests and tests to find he had a weird UTI that needed special medicine. Needless to say, three antibiotics later, he's cured but now has a bad habit. I've put food in the same spot, reading that that would help. I've put aluminum foil down to cover the spot. I've rented a carpet cleaner to treat the area to pull everything out with special treatments. If a litter pan is sitting in the middle of the hall, he'll go in it. (Even though there's two perfectly clean "automatic" litter pans in the garage for him to use.) Remove the litter pan and he goes in the hall. So, for the last four weeks I inched the litter pan back through the house and out to the garage. After four weeks of inching it across our house, the moment it was out in the garage, he peed in the hall. The bigger problem is that last night I found another spot in my house that spelled like pee. Since our kitty cam only works for a small area, I'm starting to worry that he's been other places I don't know about or worse yet he's teaching the others to misbehave. I've always been a cat lover, but I'm at the end of my rope. Does anyone have any other ideas or do you think if I found him a good home he would continue to pee? That's the problem. Anyone that sees him, loves him. Automatic lap cat that fetches and watches to be with you 24/7, but I have to be honest as to why I'm giving him up and no one wants a cat with a problem, not even me. IP: Logged |

Are you sure the UTI is not reoccuring causing this behavior to continue? I would get him checked again just to be safe before you make any final decisions to get rid of him. IP: Logged |
