Might be getting baby Chi, have 2 cats...need advice

I am going to meet a baby chi that is up for adoption and needs a home. The little girl is 6 weeks old and the other siblings have been adopted already. I realize she should ideally be 8 weeks but it seems that is not an option here. I have 2 cats (one is 3 yrs, the other is 2, male and female). I wanted to get a dog that would not be threatening to them because they mean so much to me. At the same time I've been craving the companionship of a dog. Any suggestions on how to integrate them so there is as little resentment as possible? Also what can I do for the puppy to help the process of being brought into a new home at such an early age with no dogs to teach her further what she needs to know? I would like to litterbox train her (her own litterbox, separate from the cats, of course)...anyone have any luck with that?
    Thanks!

    congrats on getting a pup!

I don't know anything abot chis but i litter trained my shihtzu mix using a purina litter box and purina dog litter. How I did it is posted under the "paper training--anyone" thread. My pup prefers going outside and trained himself to outside--so now i have the box as a backup.

Your cats will probably be fine with the pup. I have 2 cats and they pretty much all coexist. My pup chases my cats sometimes--despite my efforts to teach him not to. My cats are VERY passive so there are no problems with them hurting him. My ragdoll cat was extremely jealous when i first got the pup but I gave her extra attention for a few week and she is fine now. The cats just jump over the gate or on the counter when the pup chases them. Sometimes all 3 are able to be sleeping in the same room--but that is when my pup is too tired for the chase. I dont think my cats really mind as the ragdoll keeps coming back into the area the pup is gated so I think she likes the chase.
