Am trying to rid my cat Henry of Fleas. I won't use Front Line. I know three people whose cats died after it was applied. Apparently there is no anti-dote for it. I bought Henry a flea collar, I've used diamataceous earth, flea spray etc...still he scratches away. Anybody use Capstar? Suggestions needed. Thanks.

My cat Milo had Revolution applied to his neck by his vet. The medicine is good for getting rid of fleas, ear mites, and different types of worms. He hasn't had any side effects.

I really don't like flea collars. They got my cats sick years ago when they used them.

My Chopper has skin reactions to front line so now I use Advantage II and no problems...
    Hope that helps

Hi. Just call your vet and ask them over the phone. They won't charge you for that info. Best of luck. :D

Of all the flea control products out there, nothing works faster than capstar that I'm aware of. That being said, capstar doesn't last at all. The 2 best products I would recommend for cat flea control for both efficacy and lasting protection as well as safety is either Revolution or Assurity. Neither of them are as inexpensive as over the counter treatments, but if you are going to spend the money, best to get something that works. Both Assurity and Revolution can only be purchased through your vet. Assurity will ONLY take care of fleas, but may be slightly superior in this aspect. Revolution is by far the most economical and takes care of a whole slew of other nasty parasites as well including intestinal worms, heartworms, fleas and mites and IMHO a much better value than anything else.

In addition to treating your kitty, remember that flea eggs and larva are in the environment so treating the home and all pets in the home at the same time is essential. Also, the flea life cycle lasts for several months, so a single month of flea control likely won't cut it if you already have an established infestation, so be sure to keep up with it every month. Also keep an eye out for signs of tape worms which they can get from fleas and is not controlled by the above mentioned medications. Best of luck, they are such a pain!
