We adopted an 8 year old dachshund who was recently neutered. The problem is that he masterbates several times a day, using both front paws. I have never seen anything like this. Is this normal for a recently neutered male dog?

This just gets better by the day, when I heard a doggy wedding now this? OMG this is too much, I suggest You have a few choices here:
~Now you know why he was put up for adoption~
1. Get him some therapy
2. Buy him Booties
3. Put underware on him so his paws cant find his Yahoo
4. Maybe it itches? and its a medical prob?
If not follow number 1.
5. Make him wear a hat maybe he will forget about his Yahoo.

Doc you are a comic!! I love your reply and can just picture you teaching Bio 101 in a high school with that terminology used!

I have never heard of a dog this bad aside from Anna Nicole's dog on TV, and suggest seeing a behavior specialist. Good luck now.

All joking aside, my Mom's doxie did that his whole life, he lived until he was 16, but he only did it when he was excited...

im sorry i dont think your dog does that. i mean that is so silly i almost pissed in my pants your not getting any attention. there could be something seriously wrong with you dog get him checked out

Is sad you got such remarks about your dog 'masturbating'. I had many years ago one male dog that did that. He would , with his front legs , keep his hinds legs together and rock back forth laying on the floor, until he reached a climax and DID have semen came out. I saw it..!!as he licked it.. YUCKIES..!!Needless to say, we got rid of him very quickly..!!Don't feel bad, because when I asked other pets owners if they had ever seen such a thing, I got laughed at also.

OK I am new to this board...but I have to ask, why is this such a terrible thing? If there are no medical problems, I just don't see what the issue is...fill me in?? Humans do this too! If it's manners or timing you are worried about..such as when company is over..teach him a command like "leave it", my dog knows this command and it doesn't matter what he is doing if I say leave it, he stops what he is doing. Get rid of him??? WTH is that? If those are the rules...I'll have to find my husband a new home!

it is natural for a dog to do that but if he does it to much take him to a vet
