Hi All,

Auspet is about to launch a breeder/kennel/vet directory. The directory will consist of links to sub categories and we need your suggestions as to the best sub categories to include.

The directory must be easy to navigate (not too many sub categories, no need for a special category per breed. Eg. Dogs will include any dog type)…….please post your suggestions over this thread.

We are thinking to start the top index with the following main categories:

Top index (country):
AUS
USA
UK
CANADA
NZ

2nd level (sub category for each country);
Dogs
Cats
Fish
Birds
Horses

3rd level (sub category for Dogs as an example)
Vets
Kennels / Breeders
Services (Boarding, Grooming, Transport etc.)
Rescue centers
Etc……………..we need your help in identifying
the categories of most interest to be included in this sub tree.
Please note that this sub tree should correspond to each
animal type as noted in level 2.

Please feel free to post your suggestions here.

Don't forget the small and furry creatures as well as the reptiles and amphibians. While there may or may not be kennels and such for these animals, there are vets and breeders.

When letting breeders apply ,please only use the ones that use a vet .Ask for the vet name or check their site for vet reference .I raise Poos ..MAinly Maltipoos and I am proud of mine .You could do a poo category with Names of Poos and Breeders ,vet refereces in their area .I can supply some vets in the Marshall County /Jackson County Alabama area for you to list .But please don't list those breeders that have no vet and have no moral responsibility .There are breeders that say on their site 'Kennel vet checked ' but use no vet unless the state they reside in makes them .Should be a law that says they have to use one .Would cut out alot of those crazy people .Also list some of the individuals that rescue .I get alot of people that want to be put on my site because they rescue and I help place the rescues for them .So ,have a rescue bulletin board or something like that where loners can go post rescued dogs ..Anything like that would help .

I think it would be great to add trainers or sports clubs involving animals as well. Links to places like NAFA where people can learn about activities they can get involved in with their animals.

Perhaps to help members narrow down the sub categories within each topic, like breeds, you could add an alphabet strip at the top with each letter representing a breed. A bit like AKC does, but hopefully it won't be so graphic intensive that you have to wait forever for it to load!
