I have a pit and he's almost 7 months. He does not lift his leg when he pees. Is that normal? also he has lost all of his teeth on the sides of his mouth but not in the front when should he lose them?and sometimes his breath smells like he ate trash or something has anyone had expieriences like this? I'd appreciate some real helpful answers.thanks

As far as the leg lifting thing, don’t sweat it he'll do that in his own time.

All dogs loose there baby teeth just like humans though it is a bit unusual to loose them all at once but the permanents will grow in.

Low grade kibble will give a dog bad breath every time. I could be wrong but it sounds like your dogs nutritional needs aren’t being met properly.

The first thing I would do is switch to a high grade kibble, though I no longer feed kibble me self I’ll give you a few links to some site that I think are among the best.

And above all else see your VET and get a complete check up!

My male greyhound mix died a year ago at age 13, and he never did lift his leg to pee. He was raised around females, so I figured that was why. I thought it was GREAT! Guys might think differently, though. Do you have any cats or other dogs? Not to gross you out, but you pup might be eating poop.I can't keep Grace out of the litter box for nothing.

Dont worry ABOUT HIM LIFTING HIS LEG. mY lAB WAS 11 MONTHS before he hicked his leg, and once my male pit saw him doing it he picked it up from him. I kinda had the same problem with the teeth. Give him stuff to chew on , like raw hides, and dent-a-bones., my female, his sister lost all her milk teeth be fore my male did. We got him about a month after we had his sister. he was a apartment pet and didnt have anything really to chew on.His other owner had been put into the hospital. And like he other post said, he may be eating poop, my male pup still does it time to time.

Ranger doesn't lift his leg either, at 9 months old. We got him fixed around 6 months, and I read somewhere that if you get them fixed before they learn that habit, you won't have a problem. I have a 7 year old akita who lives nearby and he still hasn't lifted his leg, he just squats.

everybody has answered the pee thing. One thing that worked great for my dog when she was teething was ice cubes. She couldn't get enough of them. It numbs their gums and they love the crunch of it. About the breathe thing, it could be poop or it could be the dog food like Deus said. You should be brushing your dogs teeth. I do Harleys once a week. You can buy the brush and special dog paste at the pet store. That may help.

i just asked kacys vet about the bad breath today and he said that he recommended baking soda!!! or the dog past with enzymes in theam, that way all you have to do is get that past in his mouth and not have to brush if your dog dosent agree with the bristles!!!good luck, im fighting that too!!!

i feed him purina dog chow and used to feed him the same brand of puppy chow.that's not low grade is it? I don't have any other animals that run around my house atleast,so i don't think he's eating poop unless its his own but i don't think he does that. itried ice cuz it sounded like it would help but he just holds it in his mouth and then swallows it whole. He's a crazy dog.well thank you all for the great answers. I'll try some different stuff and let you all know the outcome.

Talk about lifting their legs, I have a couple mature females who will lift their legs from time to time when peeing. Sniff, sniff, and then lift and pee. Just like the guys.

Some males won't lift until they are 1 years old or more. It isn't a big deal. Actually, I wish they would never lift their leg to pee.

PiTsRrEaLdOgS,

Give him Corn Flakes its cheeper LOL JK

The point I'm trying to make is purina dog chow is as low as you can go im my opinion.

Check out this site, it contains a list of the best kibble brands on the market today.
You will notice Purina is not there!

I agree!! Purina Dog food is garbage. Read the ingredient label. CORN and MEAT BY-PRODUCTS, which we all know what that is. On any dog food the first thing on the ingedient label is what the food is mostly made of. Look for a food that has Chicken,Lamb, etc. as main ingredient(first on the list). Your dog will look better, smell better, and not so messy in your yard to clean up after. Corn goes right through them.

I really wish my male would't lift his leg...
Molly lifts her legg, she was raised by my step dad's old lab from 6 wks, he taught her everything she knows! And boy does she show it!
