ok so I got one of those Kongs (9.99) Its a regular large red one and well he seems very board with it. I put Penut butter in it and froze it. He was into it for the time it took to eat the insides. However I got him a Penut butter stuffed bone for 4.99 and its driving him nuts. I think its made from cement cause he cant bite into it so hes now on his back holding the "bone" above his head and staring quizically. Also it seems hes adopted a pet. I have this stuffed Monkey its exactly the same size a devo. He looks alot like devo with his colors and all, and no matter where I hide the monkey in the house If I say "Devo, Wheres your Monkey." He will find it. Even if its behind a wooden cabnit door with just an ear sticking out, Devo will look all sad and whine and cry because he wont pull it out or chew on it. When I got it out and gave the monkey to him he takes it gently from me and starts to groom it. He does these lil nibbles, like hes scratching its so freekin cute!! God I LOVE this dog. ------------------ IP: Logged |

that's too cute. Honestly, my dog isn't to interested inher kong either. I just use it as a scapegoat to get out the door with the peanut butter thing. Harley loves stuff that she can really chew on or tear up. Her absolute favorite is catch. My lord, one day I sat on the couch for 2 hrs. tossing the ball to her, and she never tired out. Harley didn't have a monkey but a stuffed pooh bear that was her baby, until, one day they must have gotten into a scuffle becuase I came home and poor pooh bear had no arms or a head. Harley was a little upset when pooh had to go into the garbage, but she's moved on to new love interests. hehe IP: Logged |

Yeah, my dogs only play with the kong if there's something in it too... Smokey won't fetch anything other than a rawhide bone, and Char...well thats not good enough for her. She'd rather go sniffing through the laundry and try to dress herself...I'll never forget when she came out with daddy's undies on her head...her little nose was sticking out the slit in the front! I'venever laughed sooo hard in my life! Sh'es soooo girly its irritating. IP: Logged |

Amazingly enough Devo was a natural fetcher and he brings it right back hell fetch anything I throw. Though at times he plays this lil game where he runs in circles and between my legs with the ball or bobs his head like hes playing Keep away. On an unrelated note: Devo squats to go potty he dosent lift his leg like other dogs. Is that normal for a 5 to 6 month old? Also how would I tell his age? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Some male dogs do not lift their leg to urinate until they are a year old. A vet can usually estimate a dog's age by his/her canines. IP: Logged |

Unseen, its totally normal for him to not lift yet. My mothers yellow lab didn't lift his leg until he was almost 2. He was always around female dogs, and ad not ever seen a male lift his leg before. Then he got a buddy that was older and within a week up went the leg. Devo is still pretty young so no worries. Off topic, but I used to know a couple who would keep the door open when they peed, anyways their male saw the dad standing to pee in the toilet and actually did it himself once or twice.Isn't that crazy! I am not sure how comfortable I would be with Harley using the same toiletries as me. hehe IP: Logged |

my dog has a kong and he loves it.I just put a bone that's kind of big for the kong and jam it in there and leave the end sticking out. He jst knaws the exposed part away then if he looses interest i just ask him what's in there and that usually gets him goin. try it out let me know what happens. IP: Logged |

I have like three kongs at home (puppy, large red, and one of those wierd shaped ones) and I have never had a dog that would play with it for long. I only have on dog that really like peanut butter, so that didn't work, and the bone worked, but only when the part that was sticking out was there. Once they chewed that off, they could care less what was inside! I haven't tried that Kong Stuffin' though. Has anyone else? I thought about trying that, seein I have a few kongs. IP: Logged |

pitzer lover, I have tried the kong stuffing stuff it was like a liver spray. Anyways, it gave my dog diarreah (sp?) for like 3 days. I wouldn't recommend it. The instructions say to give a tsp. We gave her less and it just didnt sit well with her. IP: Logged |

Well i must say i stand by KONG, the first toy thats lasted.. my dog LOVES it, i must say im going to try your peanut butter trick... "wheres KONG" gets a hardcase reaction of running in circles and moving things around while he looks... Must admitt, its a damn shame "I" have to crush all the plastic bottles now.. :P IP: Logged |
