Hey guys,
Gotta question for ya. We all know our little ones dream, while we watch their legs move and low grunts come from their mouths, and we just wonder what they're chasing in their sleep, a bunny perhaps?
But what about nightmares, I'll tell you why.
When we adopted our little one about 7 months ago now and she is 15 months, I though she might have been abused. Sometimes when she is sleeping I am woken up by her noises. She sobs in her sleep! No joke. It seriously sounds like the boo hoo kind of sob, like a small child will make, and you can hear her catching her breathe because she is sobbing so hard. The only way she stops is if I wake her up with a pet (she sleeps on her own bed beside ours) and let her come cuddle up to me for a bit before she goes back to her bed. This is the saddest thing for me, and I hate for her to be so sad in dream land. Has anyone ever experience this with their little one? She is also dog aggressive (working on it) so I wonder if maybe she is dreaming about being around other dogs and it makes her uncomfortable. Anyways, just wondering what everyones take on this is.
Thanks
Leslie

I've had the same problems with one of the rescues. She'll whine, and cry, and with one big yelp she'll jump up out of her sleep and run and hide. SOmetimes she'llget up fighting mad and growling at nothing, as if somethings threateningher.

When I got my 2 pits they both slept in the room with us. We got our female 2 months before we got her brother. And up until we got him she did the same thing. But she isnt in any way dog aggresive. Not her brother on the other hand is to other males he doesnt know. I have a 12mth male lab and they have never fought. You just have to givem time and let them know you arent the one who hurt them. She'll soon come around.

I know. It just tears me up everytime I have to wake her up and reassure her. She really is my little girl, crawing into bed with mommy and daddy after a bad dream! Poor girl, I will never know what really happened to her, but hope that she realizes that she doesn't have to worry anymore either. Its so weird, how well you get to know your dog, they may not be able to talk, but communicate on a whole different level. Sometimes Harley will just come up and look and me and I just know she needs a hug!

Devo has very active dreams as well lately hes been barking and growling in his sleep, he wakes up startled and scared looking. but he sees us and flips onto his back lets his legs stand limply up and goes roght back to sleep. I also notice he can be sound asleep snoring loud as can be with his eyes wide open? Its a lil freeky....
