Hi Everyone,
We went to visit another breeder this weekend to see what some of his stock looked like, because we had been hearing from a couple that we screened for a pup that he had some beautiful dogs. What we found were some gigantic huge dogs. They looked exactly like pits but they were lik 120 lb dogs? Has anyone else come across this? We left quite quickly. His poor dogs were everywhere in a very urban neighborhood. With little yard to play in. He had probably 30 dogs. and They were in 8x10 kennels ( and those were the lucky ones ) the other lined up in pet taxis in the garage. I could not believe how poor he treated them! However, that's not what was shocking, the dogs themselves were. They wife said that they pups gain 10 lbs a month until they reach about 10 months old. They called it a "new breed" and they sure are something. I know that you can selective breed what you you like to get what you want as a final result, we do that for shortness and temperment, but have any of you ever seen this?

Could they be Presna or Cane Corso? Sounds like a BYB to me. I would call animal control for the unsanitary conditions.

No, they aren't presa. They are just really large. There was a couple that came as we were leaving that he was giving her pup a B12 injection. What is that for? Do you think that maybe it could have been steroids? His dogs are muscular, but their muscles are squishy, ya know what I mean? I dunno. It wasn't unsanitary. He keeps it really clean. His neighbor hates him, and has already called the aspca on him, and they won't take the dogs.

could be, he could be dosing them up with hormones as well. people give cattle hormones in order to make them grow faster and bigger. It can be VERY dangerous to the animals if used wrong.

Sounds like a mix breed to me also, a common mix in the TX. area is pit/AB witch would acount for the size and pit look but who knows. You should have asked some tough questions like Health and back round on the dogs and always ask to see the paper work on the dogs that would clear up most questions. Although its possible to fake paper work most BYB's would'nt no how.

I would guess its a number of things, Presa, Corso, Bullmastiff, Dogue De Douge (sp?) something like that. Too bad the ASPCA can't do its job half the time. People should keep trying. Keeping dogs in pet taxis how sick. 30 dogs and no room for them, injecting them with crap. Breeding giant, injected mutts. Sounds like a bad BYB to me. Its not a new breed, these types of dogs have been around for a long time. Looks at Eddington, bred bullmastiff into his blood for size. So its not really a "New Breed" just more people out their with this "breed". They are becoming popular, and in urban type setting they are really popular because of thier looks and the image they bring.

Also on the B12 it is good for red blood cells and also nerve cells and nervous system. I don't know why he would be giving this to puppies. It is good use for anemia and Vitamin B defencientcy and illness, but not to just inject a pup with for no reason. Anyone else got an idea on it?

Yeah I hear ya Benny. It wouldn't make sense to be using B12 in the first place. I think it was really something else. Something probably harmful. Steroids are bad can even cause dogs to be sterile or be fatal. Growth hormones bad too. This guy sounds like a real nut.

I think this BANDOG thing is getting out of hand also, People are mixing breeds just out of couriosity and it seems like the Pitbull is always the commond denominator wich of course is going to come back and bite us all in the end.

Yeah, it's real wierd. His dogs were real big, but his pups weren't all that great. They were the same body and head size as my pups, but they had realllly long legs. Here's a pic of one of his males. I hate to do this, because they look really normal in the pic, but they weigh like 100 lbs. He also sells to anyone that comes over. There was a man there looking at dogs, and he ended up buying one. But he was too scared to get out of the van to look at them! He also anestitizes them and cuts their ears at his home. That is real bad!

im no expert but to me that pic you posted looks like a pit crossed with a mastiff, the face is kind of wrinkley on top and the hind quarters look too big for it to be a pure bred pit thats just my opinion though. is it legal for that guy to do ear cropping at home? i always thought you had to be licensed?

Yeah that isn't a pure dog and NO it is illegal for him to do this. Keep trying the ASPCA, they have to do something eventually. You are right about the hind quarters, that dogs is terrible. Doesn't look normal to me, maybe like a normal bandog. Too scared to get out of the van..lol

That's rediculous. That is NOT a pure Pit. I agree with everyone else. Bandog. I can't believe people buy from that guy. Can't they look at that dog & tell that it isn't pure??? Hell, I'm no expert, but I certainly can tell it! It just makes me so mad that people breed Pits with other breeds, sell them as pure, then when something bad happens, our Pits get the blame.

I totally agree, this is definately no purebred pit, definately has to have some mastiff.

BUT I must add something: It's hard to believe, but yes, nowadays pit bulls are coming in the 100+ range, I saw it on a page, that I cant seem to find, a 'breeder' of blue nosed pit. He had this one outside sire, named Psycho, im telling u this dog had the most beautiful color but he was over 100 and had this massive, horrible looking head.

But since I cant find the site I will give u the site of this breeder who has a pic up of a 4week old little girl, and I am telling u she is huge: http://www.bigbluepits.com/puppies.html
