well there is really nothing to it. our vet gave us some anitbiotics(sp?), and we just gave them to her. But her ears were wrapped so she couldnt scratch them or anything. When her stiches came out he wrapped them again , but he made sure there was no infection, so they could heal and 1 week later that wrap came off. We just watched her ears for a while to make sure that they didnt get infected. But if the vet dont rap, it may be harder, I dont know. hope that I helped ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi Spikesmommy: I had my boxer, Oskar, ears cropped on January 19. He wore a cone on his head, plus the e-collar for two whole weeks. It was hell for my pup and me. The collar drove him crazy. Two weeks later, the cone came off, and the ear wraps began. The ear wraps will be done for anywhere from 2-3 months, maybe longer. It just depends on the pups ears. I've read it can take up to 8-9 months on some. Just depends. Anyways, it's been a small nightmare for us both. Oskar manages to get the rack off of his head, which makes his ears point straight forward. Of course, this stresses me out when I come home from work and find his ears like this. I chose this method cuz I didn't want his ears being fully wrapped cuz of the infections and puss, etc. Anyway, trying to get him to leave his ears alone has been hell. Can't wait till it's all over with! If you're not prepared for the hassles, then I would advise against doing the crop. However, if you can stay home with your pup to watch him, then maybe you can handle it. I suppose it also depends on what method you choose. Hope this helps! IP: Logged |

Hello SpikesMommy. You can still get your Samson's ears cropped if you like. I would have checked out the vet prior to making an appointment and have them talk to you. Calm you down and explain all the possible risk. Also get references of people who have used them and see jobs they have done. Some vets have really butchered dogs ears. They have no clue what they are doing. Some vets also go to a one day seminar to learn it so they have no real experience and screw your dogs up. Okay hope I'm not freaking you out..lol
